Portwood Insurance Brokers was founded in 1963, in a very different commercial world. At the time, the UK had yet to adopt decimal currency. Business was conducted in pounds, shillings and pence, inflation was rising, and communication relied on typed letters rather than instant digital exchange.
The UK had not yet joined the European Economic Community, and the idea of the internet was still decades away. In the City, bowler hats remained the norm, and relationships were built face-to-face, not through screens.
It was in this environment that Portwood was established — built on traditional values of trust, expertise, and long-term client relationships.
